‘Free Palestine supporters tell Blinken to go home as he arrives in Japan’

In Tokyo, demonstrators protested against US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit, chanting slogans in support of a free Palestine. As Blinken attended meetings with Japanese officials, protesters gathered outside, holding placards and condemning the US role in the Israeli war on Gaza.

The activists, including representatives of Network Against Arms Trade (NAJAT), demanded an end to the Gaza genocide and criticized Blinken for his support towards Israel. Despite attempts to assemble outside the venue where the meeting took place, police prevented protesters from getting too close.

These protests reflect a global sentiment against US support for Israel’s actions in Gaza, with Singapore’s defense chief acknowledging a loss of support among the younger generation. International condemnation has been directed towards Israel for its actions, which have resulted in thousands of Palestinian casualties and widespread destruction in Gaza.

Tim Shorrock, a writer based in Washington, praised the protests in Tokyo, highlighting the growing displeasure towards US policies. As the conflict in the region continues, the demand for justice and peace remains paramount.
