The city administration head, Serhii Dobriak, emphasized the importance of fortifications to protect the town. Criticism has been directed towards Ukrainian authorities for the slow progress in fortifying defensive lines. President Zelensky announced ambitious plans for fortifications across three lines of defense, with significant progress made in the third line in Donetsk Oblast.
