Survival Struggle in Shejaiya amid Ruin

The residents of the Shejaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City are facing immense challenges as they try to survive amid food shortages, a water crisis, and infrastructure destruction caused by the ongoing Israeli onslaught. Abu Mohammad Hajila and his wife Samaher Hajila are struggling to make ends meet as they salvage what they can from the rubble to use in their daily lives.

The food shortage in Gaza City and northern Gaza is worsening, posing a threat to lives amid the intensified Israeli blockade. The ground operation conducted in Shejaiya resulted in hundreds of casualties and massive destruction, leading to the declaration of the area as an “uninhabitable disaster zone” by Gaza’s Civil Defense.

Residents like Mohammad Hajila and Abu Mohammad Al-Harazin are living in constant fear and anxiety, facing dire conditions with shortages of food, water, and medicine. The devastating impact of the Israeli attacks has left Gaza in ruins, with a death toll that continues to rise.

As international attention remains limited, the residents of Shejaiya continue to struggle to survive in the midst of a humanitarian crisis that shows no signs of abating.
