Welcome to the Next Chapter: Iran’s New President Formally Endorsed
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, officially endorsed Masoud Pezeshkian as the country’s new president. The endorsement ceremony in Tehran was attended by top political and military figures, where Khamenei handed over the signed decree to Pezeshkian.
The 69-year-old reformist lawmaker and cardiac surgeon emerged victorious in the presidential election, defeating his conservative rival by over 3 million votes. Pezeshkian will succeed the late President Ebrahim Raisi, with his inauguration scheduled for Tuesday.
After receiving the endorsement, Pezeshkian vowed to prioritize justice and unity, emphasizing the importance of addressing the needs of the Iranian people. Khamenei stressed the significance of economic issues and strengthening ties with key economic partners.
Additionally, Pezeshkian appointed Mohammad Reza Aref, a seasoned reformist politician, as his first vice president, signaling a new era for Iran’s leadership.
