Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Attend Inauguration of Iranian President-Elect
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Tehran on Tuesday for the inauguration ceremony of Iranian president-elect, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. The visit highlights the commitment of both countries to strengthen leadership engagement and bilateral relations.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, formally endorsed Masoud Pezeshkian as the ninth Iranian president after snap elections. The inauguration ceremony will take place on Tuesday, where Khamenei will hand over a decree of confirmation to the president-elect.
Following the decree, Pezeshkian will swear in before parliament, promising to uphold the constitution and execute his duties as the head of state. The ceremony is expected to have over 2,500 attendees, including foreign delegations from various countries and international organizations.
Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, a 69-year-old cardiac surgeon, won the presidential election on July 6. The election was called after the unfortunate death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in May.
