Russian drones launched a second night attack on the southwestern Ukrainian port city of Izmail, entering Romanian airspace, according to Kyiv officials. Moscow has been targeting ports in the Odesa region since backing out of a grain export agreement last year. The attack caused damage to port infrastructure facilities and injured two civilians in Izmail.
The Ukrainian air force reported that 38 Iranian-designed attack drones were deployed by Moscow, with 25 of them being shot down by air defense systems. Additional drones were lost after crossing into Romania. The governor of the Odesa region stated that an administrative building was damaged in the assault.
A previous attack on Izmail left three individuals injured, and Romania’s military searched for drone debris near the border. Romanian residents in the area reported hearing explosions. These incidents highlight the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with neighboring countries like Romania being affected by the conflict.
