Russia hosts yearly naval parade (VIDEO/PHOTOS)

Russia recently celebrated Navy Day with a traditional maritime parade in St. Petersburg, showcasing over 200 warships from various fleets and countries. The event, overseen by President Putin and top military officials, featured vessels from the Northern, Pacific, and Baltic fleets, among others.

Notably absent were ships from the Black Sea Fleet, active in the Ukraine conflict. The parade included Chinese, Indian, and Algerian warships, alongside Russian vessels armed with advanced Kalibr missiles.

The highlight was the reconstructed Poltava, symbolizing Russia’s historic victory in the Battle of Poltava. Modern ships like the ‘Ivan Papanin’ icebreaker and ‘Mozhaisk’ submarine demonstrated Russia’s naval prowess.

Foreign ships like the Chinese destroyer ‘Jiaozuo’ and Indian frigate ‘Tabar’ also participated. The event concluded with a land parade featuring naval cadets and marines. In his speech, Putin emphasized plans to enhance Russia’s naval capabilities with innovative technologies like hypersonic missiles.

Overall, the Navy Day festivities in St. Petersburg showcased naval power and international cooperation, reaffirming Russia’s commitment to modernizing its fleets for the future.
