Orbán, who has been in power since 2010, predicted a shift in global power towards Asia and Russia, away from the “irrational” West.
He emphasized that Asia, particularly countries like China and India, would become dominant global powers in the future. Orbán’s warm ties with Beijing and Moscow have set him apart from other EU leaders, as he seeks economic partnerships beyond the West.
He commended Russia’s adaptability in the face of Western sanctions following the Crimea invasion in 2014, contrasting it with what he perceived as the weakness of the West. Orbán also highlighted Russia’s “soft power” through its opposition to LGBTQ+ rights, suggesting that this stance has helped Russia gain influence globally.
Looking ahead, Orbán believes the EU should prioritize economic and defense cooperation over political ideals to remain relevant on the global stage. While Ukraine faces challenges on its path to EU membership, NATO has pledged support for its journey towards alliance membership.
