Fears of a wider conflict between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating after a devastating rocket strike on Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights claimed the lives of at least 12 children and left several others critically injured.
While Israeli and American officials blame Hezbollah for the attack, the Lebanese armed group denies any involvement. Hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel have been ongoing since early October, resulting in significant casualties on both sides.
Israel has vowed to take a strong stance against Hezbollah, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set to discuss the country’s response following the recent attack. In the meantime, Lebanon and the US are urging restraint to prevent further escalation.
The funeral for the children in Majdal Shams was attended by a grieving community, with residents expressing anger towards Israeli politicians present. The town was filled with mournful chants, emphasizing the sorrow of losing innocent lives to the ongoing conflict.
