FM Nirmala Sitharaman laments fake news on state budget distribution

Sitaraman also clarified the revenue share and allocation for Karnataka.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized that the Budget 2024 has taken into account the interests of every state, debunking misinformation targeting specific states.

During a press conference in Bengaluru, Sitharaman highlighted the key announcements of the budget.

She mentioned a focus on youth, MSMEs, agri research and development, among other categories in the budget.

Karnataka’s Budget Share

Sitharaman clarified the revenue share and allocation for Karnataka.

She addressed misinformation in Karnataka about the central government not fulfilling its obligations to the state.

She called out the incorrect information being circulated by the state government.

During the UPA regime (2004-2014), Karnataka received Rs 81.71 crore, while under NDA, it received Rs 2,95,818 crore in tax share.

Grants in aid for Karnataka were Rs 60779 crore under UPA and Rs 2,36,955 crore under PM Modi in the last decade.

She pointed out that Karnataka has been allocated funds for a mega textile park in Kalaburagi under the PM Mitra scheme.

Additionally, plans for large-scale clusters for vegetable production were shared to aid Bengaluru, especially during logistical challenges.
