China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi denied allegations of helping Russia’s war effort in Ukraine during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Wang Yi emphasized China’s commitment to protecting its interests and rejected claims of support for Russia.

The meeting took place in Laos during a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. China’s strong ties with Russia have strengthened amid the conflict in Ukraine, with China positioning itself as a mediator. While NATO has accused Beijing of enabling the conflict, China refutes these claims and opposes unilateral sanctions imposed by the U.S.

Wang Yi highlighted China’s stance on respecting the territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine, and expressed support for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The U.S. has warned China of consequences if it continues to support Russia’s defense industry.
