Fourteen people were injured in Mastung as supporters of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) were headed to a rally in Gwadar. The BYC accused security forces of opening fire, while officials stated that the marchers attacked a Levies checkpoint.
BYC leader Bebarg Baloch claimed that law enforcement agencies fired on their convoy, injuring 14 people. Five were in critical condition. The government placed a ban on rallies amidst the chaos, with over 200 people arrested, according to Dr. Mahrang Baloch.
Contradicting the accusations, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind denied security forces opened fire. Negotiations were proposed by the government, but the situation escalated with roads sealed and gatherings banned by the Quetta administration.
Eyewitnesses reported road blockages leading to Gwadar, prompting the administration to suggest an alternate location for the rally. The deputy commissioner of Kalat reported extreme violence from the marchers, leading to injuries among security personnel and civilians.
Action will be taken against those inciting unrest, as the government aims to maintain peace amidst escalating tensions.
