Turkish military destroys 25 PKK targets in N. Iraq

The Turkish National Defense Ministry conducted airstrikes in northern Iraq, targeting 25 PKK terror group sites in the Gara, Qandil, and Asos regions. The operation aimed to neutralize terrorist elements, prevent attacks on Turkish soil, and protect border security by destroying caves, shelters, and other facilities housing high-level terrorists. The ministry emphasized a commitment to eliminating terrorism for the safety of the country and its people.

During the operation, precautions were taken to avoid harm to civilians, friendly forces, and cultural sites. The use of domestic ammunition resulted in the neutralization of a significant number of terrorists. Turkish authorities define “neutralize” as surrender, capture, or elimination of threats.

Over nearly four decades, the PKK’s terrorist activities in Türkiye have claimed over 40,000 lives, including innocent civilians. Recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, the PKK continues to pose a threat to regional stability.
