Russia and China are joining forces to build a fairer multipolar world order, according to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. In a meeting with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Laos, Lavrov highlighted their efforts to promote “genuine multilateralism” and bring positive contributions to organizations like the UN and G20. The two countries are actively collaborating within the BRICS economic bloc and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Lavrov emphasized the importance of working with ASEAN and its broader architecture, noting the shared goal of preventing its destruction. Currently attending ministerial meetings in Vientiane, he aims to enhance cooperation with the 10-member ASEAN bloc across various areas such as politics, security, trade, and culture.
The Russian Foreign Ministry is looking to leverage ASEAN support for advancing initiatives in international information security, a key priority for Russia. By fostering dialogue and partnerships within these frameworks, Russia and China are paving the way for a more inclusive and collaborative global landscape.
