Reasons behind Kagame’s dismissal of Public Service minister Mujawamariya

By MOSES K. GAHIGI

Rwandan President Paul Kagame recently dismissed Minister Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya over issues of accountability during her previous role as Minister of Environment. The Rwanda Investigations Bureau is investigating her, the ministry’s permanent secretary, and others for mismanagement of forestry and environmental projects.

President Kagame’s actions come as he prepares for a new term in office, following elections where he won by a significant margin. Known for his zero-tolerance towards corruption and mismanagement, Kagame has previously taken strong measures against public officials involved in such cases.

Dr Mujawamariya, a long-serving minister in the Rwandan government, has held various prominent positions before her recent appointment. Despite her impressive background, she now faces scrutiny over potential misconduct in her previous role.
