Muscat to Develop New LNG Train at Qalhat Industrial Complex
Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals has unveiled plans to construct a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) train at the Qalhat Industrial Complex in Sur. The new train will have an annual production capacity of 3.8mn metric tonnes, increasing Oman’s total LNG production capacity to 15.2mn metric tonnes annually by 2029.
This development aims to enhance operational efficiency and maximize the benefits from the existing infrastructure of Oman LNG Company. The project will contribute to meeting the rising global demands for clean energy and align with Oman’s commitment to energy security.
H E Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, affirmed the government’s dedication to sustain its position as a vital energy supplier, ensuring long-term economic sustainability. The new LNG train project will complement existing facilities at the Qalhat LNG Complex, strengthening Oman’s competitiveness in the global LNG market.
