A former Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has urged the youth to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government and refrain from participating in the proposed nationwide protest. In a statement, Obanikoro acknowledged the challenges facing the country and emphasized the importance of trust in the government’s efforts to address these concerns.
Recognizing the frustration among young people due to poverty and inequality, Obanikoro assured the youth that the government is working tirelessly to create opportunities, improve infrastructure, and provide access to quality education, healthcare, and food for all. He highlighted the potential consequences of protests, including harm to well-intentioned protesters and the possibility of negative activities being carried out by malicious individuals.
Encouraging the youth to engage with the government and participate in the democratic process, Obanikoro emphasized the need for patience and understanding as the government lays the foundation for a prosperous future. Despite the challenges, he expressed optimism in Nigeria’s ability to overcome them and build a brighter future through collaboration.
