A tragic incident in Ilare-Ijesa, Osun State, saw a 78-year-old grandfather, Akanbi Adedoyin, lose his life after being attacked by his grandson, Kusibe, during a dispute. Kusibe allegedly struck his grandfather on the head with a plank, causing severe injuries that ultimately led to his death two days later.
Residents who heard the commotion rushed to the scene and took the injured grandfather to a local health facility for initial treatment. Despite being advised to transfer him to a better-equipped hospital, they couldn’t afford the cost, resulting in a tragic outcome.
Following the incident, Kusibe was apprehended by individuals at the scene and handed over to authorities. The Owalare of Ilare, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku, called for justice in the matter to prevent such incidents from happening again.
The Osun State Police Command, through spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the details of the case and revealed that Kusibe was arrested, charged, and remanded in custody for the alleged attack over a land ownership dispute.
