In a recent public rally in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared that no military operations would be permitted in the province. Instead, he urged police to target armed groups throughout the region. This decision was met with criticism from the PML-N-led federal government, accusing Gandapur of misleading the public on the Azm-i-Istehkam anti-terrorism campaign.
The CM emphasized the sacrifices made by KP residents in the war on terror, expressing solidarity with those displaced from their homes. Despite reports of action against religious seminaries, Gandapur confirmed his support for students within these institutions, promising solar energy, education, and employment opportunities.
While addressing security concerns, Gandapur directed law enforcement agencies to crack down on armed groups and eliminate malpractices and drug-related issues. Despite opposition, he remained steadfast in supporting the police and armed forces while seeking to maintain peace and security across the province.
In response, the federal government criticized Gandapur for politicizing the peace jirga and spreading misinformation, urging him to present a clear plan to combat terrorism effectively.
