The past years in Uganda and Kenya have been filled with stories of grand corruption and wastage. In Kenya, this culminated in protests that led to political shake-ups and resignations. These protests inspired similar movements worldwide, including in Uganda where the anti-corruption drive was strong. The youth-led protests in Kenya and Uganda marked a shift towards a focus on corruption, signaling changing demands in African political landscape.

President Museveni of Uganda responded to the anti-corruption campaigns by cracking down on protesters, showcasing a mix of repression and rhetoric against corruption. The contrasting reactions of Museveni and Ruto in Uganda and Kenya highlight the differences in political traditions and the emerging focus on corruption among youth movements in Africa. This shift to demanding accountability and transparency marks a new chapter in African activism.
