Awami Pakistan Party to Protest Against KE Over Inflated Bills and Loadshedding

The newly-formed Awami Pakistan Party has announced a protest outside K-Electric’s office in Karachi to protest against inflated power bills and prolonged loadshedding. Former PML-N leader Miftah Ismail addressed a press conference, stating that the party’s demands include the abolition of income and sales tax for domestic consumers for four months, an end to overbilling, and resolution of loadshedding issues.

Alleging overbilling across Pakistan, Ismail called for NEPRA to investigate. He also demanded the removal of sales tax on furnace oil and LNG to reduce consumer bills. Criticizing the government’s increased expenditures, he proposed reducing MNAs’ development budgets to provide electricity relief.

Emphasizing public interest, Ismail highlighted the need for systemic change. Meanwhile, JI’s sit-in against inflation and electricity bills in Rawalpindi continues, with participants vowing to persist until their demands are met.
