Apple joins US commitments for responsible AI innovation

Apple has joined President Joe Biden’s AI initiative to advance responsible artificial intelligence innovation, as announced by the White House on Friday. This move aligns with Biden’s executive order from nine months ago to ensure the US takes the lead in managing AI risks.

Major tech companies like Google and Microsoft previously signed onto these commitments in July 2023, followed by eight more firms including Adobe, IBM, and Nvidia in September.

The White House statement highlighted the progress made over 270 days to address AI safety and security risks, with agencies completing all required actions on time. Additionally, the Biden administration unveiled the roadmap for the National Standards Strategy for Critical and Emerging Technology, emphasizing the importance of private and public sector engagement in standardizing technology to safeguard national and economic security.

By actively participating in these initiatives, Apple and other tech companies are demonstrating their commitment to advancing AI innovation responsibly and in line with federal guidelines.
