Al Mazyunah Free Zone in Salalah attracting RO5mn investments in first half of 2024

Al Mazyunah Free Zone, Oman’s first free zone under OPAZ, has seen investments worth RO5mn in the first half of 2024, bringing the total investment in the zone to RO140mn. Located on the Yemen border, the zone is a key trade gateway to Gulf and East African countries.

The Director General, Eng Ahmed bin Khamis al Kasbi, highlighted the zone’s strategic significance in enhancing Oman-Yemen trade. The zone has attracted 185 lease contracts, with a focus on industrial sector investments. A unique feature is the approved dry port handling export and import operations.

Investors enjoy incentives like a 30-year income tax exemption, no income declaration requirement, and ownership of 100% project capital. Yemeni workers can work visa-free. The zone’s infrastructure development includes road networks, and a services building ready for tenant occupancy.

Future opportunities include a water desalination plant, refrigerated warehouses, and master plan sectors for various activities. Investors benefit from the Masar Center, offering services from government ministries. The electronic ‘Edaa’ system manages operations efficiently, handling 16,500 transactions in the first half of the year.
