President Yoon Seok-yeol immediately accepted the resignation of acting chairman Lee Sang-in of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) ahead of the opposition party’s impeachment motion vote. The Presidential office expressed deep regret at the opposition party’s attempts to marginalize the KCC.
The Presidential spokesperson announced that President Yoon accepted the resignation of Chairman Lee due to the opposition’s controversial impeachment motion, which was seen as an attempt to paralyze the KCC.
The Presidential office criticized the opposition for their actions to weaken the KCC, which oversees broadcasting, IT, and communication policies, highlighting the urgent need for legislative solutions to prioritize public welfare over political disputes.
The office also warned against focusing solely on investigations and impeachment motions, urging the parliament to address pressing issues for the future of the country instead of hindering progress.
