Turkish Military Strikes PKK Terror Targets in Northern Iraq
The Turkish National Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that airstrikes were conducted in the Gara, Qandil, and Asos regions of northern Iraq, targeting 25 PKK terror group locations. The operation on July 26, 2024, aimed to neutralize terrorist elements and prevent attacks against civilians and security forces.
The ministry emphasized the destruction of caves, shelters, bunkers, depots, and facilities that were used by high-level terrorists. While ensuring the safety of innocent civilians and cultural sites, Turkish Armed Forces remain determined to combat terrorism and protect the nation.
Using domestically produced ammunition, the military successfully neutralized a significant number of terrorists in the operation. The PKK has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths in its long-standing terror campaign against Türkiye, recognized as a terrorist organization by multiple countries.
