Paris prosecutor investigates ‘criminal’ attack on France’s high-speed train network

Just hours before the grand opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, France’s high-speed network faced widespread and criminal acts that disrupted travel for hundreds of thousands of people. The Paris prosecutor has launched a probe into these suspected attempts to undermine the country’s fundamental national interests, as reported by France24.

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal stated that security forces are actively searching for the individuals responsible for the attacks on the high-speed rail network. The Prime Minister condemned these coordinated acts of sabotage against SNCF’s installations, which have caused significant consequences for the rail system.

Among the malicious acts were arson attacks that affected approximately 800,000 passengers, leading to disruptions in the transport system. The Paris prosecutor’s investigation will target those involved in damaging the automated data processing system, carrying the possibility of up to 20 years in prison.
