Palestine and Oman Unify Efforts for Reconciliation
In a phone call between Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi and Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Hussein al-Sheikh, Palestine and Oman agreed to unify efforts to achieve an intra-Palestinian reconciliation. Al-Sheikh emphasized the need for continued action to stop aggression against Palestinians in Gaza and called for international recognition of the State of Palestine to preserve the two-state solution.
Amid ongoing Israeli aggression and rejection of a Palestinian state, the recent agreement between Palestinian groups like Fatah and Hamas in Beijing aims to end division and form a national unity government. The political division between the West Bank and Gaza Strip since 2007 has led to internal conflicts. The recent efforts for reconciliation come at a crucial time as Israel’s offensive on Gaza continues to devastate the region.
As the international community watches, the unity between Palestine and Oman signals a positive step towards peace and stability in the region.
