The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has warned against plans by “unscrupulous elements” to hijack upcoming nationwide protests for violent purposes, stating that the armed forces will not allow the nation to spiral into anarchy. This was revealed by Maj-Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.

Similarly, the Department of State Services (DSS) has exposed plots to infiltrate the protests for chaos, urging youths to reconsider their actions. The DSS warned of political motivations behind the protests, aiming for regime change.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of peaceful protests within democracy, while traditional leaders urged Nigerians to listen to reason and avoid the scheduled demonstrations.

Former SGF Babachir Lawal cautioned against arresting Peter Obi, highlighting potential consequences, and Chief Bode George urged the government to seek peace and prevent violence during the protests.
