Lagos delays e-call up system for Lekki-Epe corridor

The Lagos State Government has decided to postpone the implementation of the e-call-up system for the Lekki-Epe corridor, which was initially set to start on August 1, 2024. Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, announced the postponement following stakeholders’ requests for more time to ensure full compliance.

The e-call-up system, a digital platform, aims to manage and coordinate truck movements within the Lekki-Epe Free Trade Zone corridor to address the disruptive traffic caused by truckers. The corridor is a vital economic hub housing industries like the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery, and Lekki Deep Sea Port.

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged stakeholders to prepare adequately for the system’s successful launch. The postponement allows for more time for stakeholders to comply and make necessary arrangements for the technology-driven solution.
