Iran has welcomed a China-mediated agreement aimed at resolving a rift between Palestinian factions and forming a national unity government, calling it a “valuable step” towards national reconciliation and consensus.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kan’ani, praised the recent meeting in Beijing as a positive move towards Palestinian unity in the face of Israeli oppression. Tehran is committed to supporting the Palestinian cause for self-determination and an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestinian factions, including Fatah and Hamas, signed an agreement to form a unity government and hold elections after talks in Beijing. This unity deal follows Israel’s deadly war on Gaza, which claimed thousands of lives.
China’s role in facilitating this agreement underscores its support for Palestinian rights and a two-state solution.
