Imran Khan’s party calls for nationwide protest to free arrested leaders

Get ready for a potential face-off in Pakistan as supporters of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf gear up for countrywide protests. PTI demands the release of all arrested party leaders, including founder Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 5 last year on various charges.

While PTI plans protests in front of the National Press Club, Jamaat-e-Islami will stage a sit-in at F-Chowk in Islamabad. The tension rises as authorities impose bans on gatherings, including protests in Islamabad and seal off key areas.

The crackdown on PTI leaders intensifies as the party claims arrests in different cities, including the raid on PTI leader Raja Basharat’s house. With the recent Supreme Court ruling recognizing PTI’s political status and awarding reserved seats, the party sees this as an opportunity for upcoming elections.

As PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan rallies the workers for the post-November elections, the political landscape in Pakistan seems set for continued turbulence.
