A former Russian deputy defense minister, Dmitry Bulgakov, was arrested on corruption-related charges by Russia’s Investigative Committee. Bulgakov, who oversaw military logistics during the invasion of Ukraine, was dismissed due to logistic failures. Details of the charges were not disclosed, but he was remanded into pre-trial detention in Moscow.

His arrest is part of a series targeting officials from Russia’s Defense Ministry, including Andrei Belkov and Lieutenant General Yuri Kuznetsov. The investigations have led to accusations of corruption and budget theft within the ministry. The recent purge aims to crackdown on corruption in high-ranking positions.

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), a group of officials, including government and law enforcement individuals, allegedly stole funds from an agricultural development program in Karachay-Cherkessia. The string of arrests indicates a growing effort to combat corruption within Russia’s military and government.
