Ex-Deputy Defense Minister and Army General arrested for corruption

Breaking News: Former Deputy Minister of Defense and Russian Army General Dmitry Bulgakov has been arrested in a major corruption case, as confirmed by the FSB on July 26. The investigation has led to Bulgakov’s placement in the Butyrka pretrial detention center in Moscow.

Bulgakov, who served as Deputy Minister of Defense for 14 years, was removed from his position shortly after President Putin’s announcement of partial mobilization in 2022. The case is being jointly investigated by the FSB, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Investigative Committee.

It is alleged that General Bulgakov was involved in a corruption scheme related to the purchase of fuel and lubricants, potentially resulting in overpayments of 60 billion rubles. Additionally, there are accusations of mismanagement regarding military uniforms and food supplies.

General Bulgakov, a decorated military figure with numerous awards, including the title of Hero of Russia, is now facing serious charges related to corruption and misappropriation of military resources.
