Dutch ambassador: Music is best way to mark 2 nations’ centenary of ties and friendship

The Dutch Ambassador to Ankara, Joep Wijnands, highlighted the significance of celebrating the centenary of relations between the Netherlands and Turkey through music. Describing Karsu Donmez, a Turkish-Dutch singer, as an ambassador for both nations, Wijnands emphasized the special bond symbolized by the artist.

Wijnands expressed his excitement for Karsu’s free concert in Ankara and invited everyone to attend, underscoring the longstanding diplomatic ties and friendship between the Netherlands and Turkey. The ambassador also mentioned the activities organized throughout Turkey to commemorate the 100th anniversary, including events for children and initiatives in earthquake-stricken areas. Wijnands highlighted the historical contributions of Turkish guest workers to the Dutch economy and the successful Turkish community in the Netherlands.

Moreover, the collaboration between the Netherlands and Turkey in environmental efforts, such as reforestation activities in Marmaris, demonstrated the ongoing friendly relations between the two nations.
