BTA: Bulgaria urged to bid for UNESCO World Heritage Committee hosting

Bulgaria has been proposed to host the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in 2025, as announced by Deputy Culture Minister Viktor Stoyanov. The invitation was extended during the 46th session of UNESCO, showcasing positive reactions from delegates of various countries.

If Bulgaria decides to apply and host the session, the final decision will be made during the ongoing session in Delhi. This opportunity would allow Bulgaria to showcase its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty on a global platform.

The Ministry of Culture suggests Prof Nikolay Nenov to be the chairman of the 47th session in Sofia. The estimated budget for organizing the forum is between BGN 8 to 10 million. Stoyanov assures cooperation with other departments for a successful event.

Support from political parties and a show of national pride are essential for the success of this initiative. Hosting the UNESCO session would not only benefit Bulgaria but also contribute to the preservation of its heritage sites and cultural diversity.
