Britain gives up challenging ICC jurisdiction on Israeli leaders

UK Backs Off from Challenging ICC Over Israeli War Crimes

The UK has decided not to pursue efforts to question the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan had requested these arrest warrants in May over alleged war crimes.

Initially, Britain, as an ICC member state, had filed a request to provide written observations on the ICC’s jurisdiction over Israeli nationals. However, after a change in government leadership, the UK has chosen not to pursue this issue, stating that it is up to the court to decide.

Recent data shows that Israel has caused significant human casualties in Palestine, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries. The devastation in Gaza continues, with a severe lack of essential resources due to Israeli military actions. Israel is facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
