The Embassy of the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has again criticized the authorities in the Republika Srpska (RS) entity for their questionable financial practices. They questioned the whereabouts of the money that the RS entity has been lending.
The Embassy compared the tactics being used by companies under OFAC sanctions to hide family involvement in corporate ownership to similar practices in the RS entity. They asked who benefits from these secretive business transactions.
The Embassy raised the question “Where is the money?” in reference to the 1.1 billion BAM borrowed by the RS government on the Banja Luka Stock Exchange. They have been closely monitoring the financial situation in the RS entity and highlighted contracts worth over 70 million BAM signed by RS authorities with sanctioned companies.
It is clear that the Embassy is closely scrutinizing the financial activities in the RS entity and raising important questions about transparency and accountability.
