A Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter crashed in Kaluga Oblast in western Russia, resulting in the tragic loss of the helicopter’s crew due to a technical malfunction. The incident occurred near the Ukrainian border in a deserted area, without causing any ground damage.

The Mi-28, known as “Havoc,” has been utilized by Russia in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with the recent crash adding to the tally of aircraft lost in combat operations. The aviation industry in Russia has faced challenges due to Western sanctions, impacting the maintenance of their aircraft.

This crash follows another helicopter incident in eastern Siberia, where a Robinson helicopter went missing, leading to fatalities. Reports suggest that the passengers aboard were officers from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

With multiple accidents involving Russian helicopters during the war, safety concerns and repercussions on aviation operations remain in focus.
