The Defense Ministry in Moscow confirmed the crash, stating that it was caused by a technical malfunction during a pre-planned flight. Fortunately, the helicopter crashed in an uninhabited area, causing no further damage on the ground.

The Russian Aerospace Forces have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Governor Vladislav Shapsha of Kaluga also confirmed the crash, revealing that it took place in a heavily wooded area near the village of Klyonki.

The Mi-28 helicopter, known for its use in combat missions and drone-hunting operations, has been in service since 1982 and has undergone several modifications over the years.
