The acquisition of 20 F-35 Block 4 advanced multirole aircraft will dramatically upgrade Greece’s aerial capabilities. Lockheed Martin officially welcomed Greece to the F-35 program, showcasing the country’s commitment to strengthening its military forces.
Lockheed Martin recently announced that Greece has signed the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for the procurement of 20 F-35 fighter jets. This strategic move will make Greece the 19th nation to join the F-35 program, enhancing its sovereignty and operational capabilities.
Greece plans to initially purchase 20 F-35s at a cost of 3.47 billion euros, with an option for an additional 20 jets. Delivery is expected to begin in 2028, and the Hellenic Air Force will retain the first four in the US for training purposes until 2030. The completion of deliveries is anticipated by 2033.
Defense Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized the importance of acquiring the most advanced fighter jet in the world, signaling Greece’s commitment to building a powerful military force.
