Kuleba warns in Hong Kong of Russia bypassing sanctions

During his visit to Hong Kong, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba expressed concerns about Russia using the city to evade sanctions imposed by the West following its invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. Kuleba highlighted the importance of preventing Russian entities from bypassing restrictions put in place by Western countries.

The European Union also sanctioned 19 Chinese companies, including those in Hong Kong, for allegedly aiding Russia in circumventing the penalties. Kuleba emphasized the necessity of these measures to weaken Russia’s ability to continue its aggression against Ukraine.

While in China, a key ally of Russia, Kuleba stated that Ukraine is ready to engage in negotiations with Russia if the latter demonstrates a genuine willingness to participate in talks. However, he also noted that China’s support for Russia has drawn criticism from NATO members.
