KP Apex Committee Decides to Approach Judiciary for Inquiry into Bannu Incident

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has taken a significant decision to seek judicial inquiry into the recent Bannu incident. The committee also plans to conduct its own inquiry to hold those accountable for the unrest.

Emphasizing the importance of peaceful protests while respecting the law and code of conduct, the committee clarified that no military operation is underway in the province. Chief Minister Gandapur directed the police to take immediate action against any armed non-state actors.

Recognizing the sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan, the army, police, and defense agencies in combating terrorism, the committee discussed ways to boost officers’ and troops’ morale amidst unfair criticism of government institutions.

The meeting, attended by military leadership, police, and civil officials, also addressed the need to reopen traditional border crossings for trade in Torkham, Kharlachi, and other areas to boost local employment and curb smuggling.
