Igbo leader Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu passes away at 82

The Igbo community is mourning the loss of a great leader as Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has passed away at the age of 82. His son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, confirmed his death on Thursday, revealing that he passed after a brief illness on July 25, 2024.

Chief Iwuanyanwu was a distinguished figure in Igbo society, having held prominent positions such as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and President of the Owerri Peoples Assembly. His family, from Umuohii Atta, in Imo State, announced his passing and stated that burial details will be disclosed later.

Survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, and numerous children and grandchildren, Chief Iwuanyanwu leaves behind a legacy of leadership and service to his community. His contributions to Igbo culture and society will be remembered and honored by many.
