Chief Justice Andrew Bell is set to deliver the decision today as Berejiklian fights claims of breaching public trust due to her undisclosed relationship with disgraced colleague Daryl Maguire.
The bombshell report by the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption in June 2023 accused Berejiklian of engaging in “serious corrupt conduct” through her connection with Maguire.
ICAC’s report highlighted Berejiklian’s involvement in funding decisions for Maguire’s electorate while sitting on a cabinet committee.
In her defense, Berejiklian’s barrister argued that personal relationships of ministers do not equate to corruption, while ICAC claimed she was influenced by her relationship with Maguire.
Despite stepping down as premier in 2021, Berejiklian has continued to challenge the findings, emphasizing her commitment to public interest.
