Germany’s national rail operator, Deutsche Bahn, faced a loss of over €1.2 billion in the first six months of 2024, a sharp increase from the previous year. Strikes, extreme weather, and infrastructure payments were cited as main causes for the shortfall, affecting revenue and passenger numbers.
