The ‘Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law’, which aims to investigate the truth about obstruction of investigations into Marine Corps deaths and cover-ups of incidents, was automatically scrapped after being rejected by the National Assembly on the 25th. It is the second time it has been scrapped since late May 28th in the 21st National Assembly.

Following the rejection, the ruling party held a condemnation meeting at the National Assembly central hall, criticizing President Yoon Suk-yeol and the main opposition party, accusing them of betraying public sentiment and undermining justice and common sense. As new allegations regarding former Marine Corps’ 1st Division Commander Im Sung-geun’s lobbying activities emerge, the opposition plans to push for the resubmission of the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Law.

Furthermore, the ruling party also engaged in the deliberation of the so-called ‘Broadcasting 4 Laws’, including amendments to broadcasting laws and related regulations. Amidst this, a motion to impeach the vice chairman of the Korea Communications Commission was submitted, with a vote expected to take place within 24-72 hours, potentially as early as the 26th.
