Three injured in retaliatory violence in Rumbek North

Inter-Clan Attacks Leave Three Injured in Rumbek, Lakes State

Over the weekend, inter-clan revenge attacks between two sub-clans of the Pakam community in Rumbek North County, Lakes State, resulted in three people being injured in Thou-Bor villages of Rumbek Central County, as confirmed by police authorities.

Major Elijah Mabor Makuac, the Lakes State police spokesperson, stated that the situation has since returned to normalcy, with security forces pursuing the perpetrators. Two cases of revenge attacks were reported over the weekend, with injuries sustained by individuals during clashes rooted in long-standing conflicts.

Makuac emphasized the importance of breaking the cycle of revenge and urged the community to cooperate with security forces to ensure criminals are brought to justice. Dr. Terran Madit Terran from Rumbek State Hospital confirmed the treatment of four patients with gunshot wounds, highlighting the need for peaceful resolution of disputes.

Efforts are ongoing to maintain security and address communal tensions, with a focus on the collective responsibility of all individuals to support law enforcement and prevent further violence in the region.
