UK Minister of Defense, John Healey, emphasized the importance of Friends of Ukraine and NATO allies supporting Ukraine against Russian invaders at a press conference in Berlin. He stressed that the defense of European security begins with Ukraine’s success and Putin’s failure.
Healey’s visit to Odesa, where he met with President Zelensky, was followed by a pledge to accelerate aid to Ukraine, including ammunition, rifles, boats, and modern capabilities for the armed forces. The UK Government has committed GBP 3 billion sterling for military aid to Ukraine annually and will assist other allies in increasing their support.
The Joint Defense Declaration signed in Berlin aims to strengthen relations between the UK and Germany, particularly in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Healey highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation in arms design and production.
With a visit to Estonia planned, Healey continues to reinforce the UK’s commitment to Ukraine’s defense.
