The Czech Republic is gearing up to support Ukraine by launching a new initiative to purchase artillery ammunition in 2025, according to Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernochova. The initiative, named “Initiative 2025,” aims to provide 500,000 shells to Ukraine by the end of 2024 to address the country’s shell shortages.

Czechia, along with five Czech companies, will be involved in the project, acting as a mediator between arms manufacturers and European countries funding the purchase of artillery ammunition for Kyiv. Several European countries have pledged their support for the initiative, with negotiations on financing expected to start soon.

Furthermore, Prague plans to send an additional 100,000 rounds to Ukraine in the coming months. With 18 countries initially pledging support and 15 already fulfilling their promises, the Czech Republic’s efforts to aid Ukraine in its defense against external threats are commendable.

Bulgaria also expressed its willingness to send surplus ammunition to Ukraine, further highlighting the solidarity and unity among European nations in supporting Ukraine’s defense.
