ARGOS GEORGIA rescue, Falklands Stanley hospital ready to receive survivors
The Falkland Islands Maritime Authority received information that the fishing vessel Argos Georgia, with 27 persons onboard, was taking on water and requesting assistance some 200 miles east of Stanley. The crew abandoned ship and the ongoing search and rescue operation led by multiple organizations has successfully rescued some crew members.
The rescued individuals will be taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Stanley for medical assessment, while the search continues for those still missing. Minister of State for Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Stephen Doughty, expressed gratitude for the ongoing efforts in the search and rescue operation.
The Falkland Islands Government sends thoughts to the families involved and thanks everyone for their assistance. The safety of all involved remains a top priority as the operation continues throughout the night.
